Audience targeting in car advertisements: A visual analysis of Ferrari and Fiat motor advertisements between 1978–1999.
This dissertation studies a selection of late 20th century (1978–1999) printed car advertisements and their approaches to audience targeting through graphic communication. Car advertisements steer their viewers to understand which type of vehicle is appropriate for them through a variety of parameters (gender, age, wealth etc).
This study focusses on ten advertisements from Ferrari and Fiat, two Italian vehicle companies operating with different motivations within the industry. The differences in car types, price points and customers result in different objectives within advertisement design in order to target desired customers effectively and accurately. The analysis has been formed with reference to previous research, studying semiotic theory and narrative structures with graphic design criteria.

sports marketing & motion graphics
An investigation and analysis of the Formula 1 rebrand and marketing strategy.
Motion graphics has been a present factor in the design space since the late 1950s with Saul Bass’ early exploration into the sector, which popularised the concept. In an increasingly digital world, motion graphics hold a unique capability to combine the benefits of print and video marketing strategies. Particularly in UX design, motion graphics appears to have a widely greater impact on users than static. This impact on users considered, how can marketing using motion graphics create more visual impact, but more crucially boost interaction with marketing material and product sales?
Event marketing typically is static, taking the form of a poster or digital document displaying the event details, or edited video footage compiled for longer form advertisements. How can the benefits of each of these pieces be combined, to create snappy short motion graphic pieces?
